Consider T1M for a planned ceiling-light replacement; choose T2 when a suitable existing E26 fixture already does the physical job well.
A smart bulb can refresh a suitable lamp without changing the ceiling hardware. A new fixture is a different investment, involving appearance, mounting and electrical work as well as connected controls.
T1M combines everyday ceiling lighting with a separate color ring. That is appealing when the ceiling fitting is part of the room design. It should still be checked against the mounting location and local installation requirements.
If the current fixture looks right and accepts a suitable T2 bulb, a smaller upgrade may give you the changes you want. Keep the saved installation budget for a useful controller or another room rather than replacing good hardware automatically.
Before you order
- Decide whether the existing fixture needs replacing.
- Check ceiling mounting and wiring conditions.
- Verify bulb base, enclosure and clearance.
A useful next step
Compare a bulb-only list with a fixture-and-installation scope.
