A lock that fits in summer may rub in winter

If you have to pull the door toward you to turn the key, sort out the fit before ordering a motorised deadbolt.

Does your door lock easily in August, then need a shove when the weather changes? Put the smart-lock order on hold long enough to check the door. A keypad is convenient; it is a poor reason to leave the bolt rubbing against its strike.

Schlage describes seasonal sticking as a possible sign of temperature or moisture affecting the door. A tight weather seal or a sagging hinge can also get in the way. Those are different problems, so tell the installer when it happens and whether you have to push, pull or lift the door. “It sometimes sticks” gives them much less to work with.

Buy the lock after the door closes properly

For an Aqara U100, the manufacturer’s installation manual calls for the tailpiece to turn smoothly, with no interference from surrounding parts. Choosing a Schlage Encode Plus instead does not remove the need to check the door and strike. Choose between those models for the access and control features you want once the mechanical fit is settled.

If the door is sticking now, ask for a fit assessment with the lock quote. If it only happens in another season, explain that history rather than treating a smooth turn today as the whole answer. Keep the budget for any door work separate from the device price; then you can decide what the upgrade will actually cost.
