Choose a curtain motor only after checking the exact supported load and existing travel.
A wide lightweight curtain and a narrow lined curtain can present different demands. The window width does not tell you the full moving weight or how much resistance the hardware adds.
For Curtain 3 or Aqara E1, use the selected variant's official weight and hardware limits. Include both fabric layers if they move together, and investigate sticking rings or a reluctant track before adding a motor.
This does not mean giving up on a convenient retrofit. It means spending on the part that makes it reliable. Sometimes correcting the existing curtain hardware is the worthwhile first purchase; sometimes a compatible motor can be added without replacing the curtain you like.
Before you order
- Measure the actual moving curtain load.
- Check the exact variant's stated limits.
- Resolve friction in the existing hardware.
