Begin with who needs access, for how long and who is authorised to remove it.
List the normal events: a resident moves in, a cleaner visits, a repair is scheduled and a tenancy ends. Decide the required access behaviour for each event before choosing a credential workflow. A consumer lock’s available controls should be tested against those actual tasks.
Keep account ownership and staff permissions separate from a resident’s day-to-day use. Do not assume one consumer app automatically provides enterprise administration, property-system integration or unrestricted remote access at any scale.
Run a representative unit pilot and test issue, expiry and removal of the intended credentials. Record a manual fallback for a failed lock or lost phone. The equipment purchase becomes more useful when the property team can see how it will operate after the installer leaves.
Before you order
- List resident, staff and contractor roles.
- Test credential removal as well as creation.
- Agree account ownership and manual fallback.
