Reject a shortlist early if the interior housing cannot move and sit as the manufacturer intends.
Door preparation is more than a bore measurement. A tall handle, moulding or nearby glazed panel can crowd the inside of a smart lock. A second door may also change the available space when both leaves are closed.
Compare the dimension drawings for U100 or a U200 retrofit with photographs taken straight on and from the side. Include the swept space of the moving parts, not just the stationary housing. Do not rely on the apparent scale of a retail image.
Ask the installer whether any correction is permitted and sensible. When a change would damage the door or compromise its intended use, choosing different hardware is usually the cleaner buying decision.
Before you order
- Measure housing and moving-part clearance.
- Include nearby trim and handles in photographs.
- Check the opening with adjacent doors closed.
A useful next step
Send marked dimensions and side photographs for a fit check.
