Build a small, model-specific battery and maintenance process instead of offering one generic refill bundle.
List the battery type and manufacturer guidance for each product you sell. Keep that information with the device register rather than relying on a salesperson’s memory. Do not substitute rechargeable or different-chemistry cells without checking the actual device instructions.
Agree who receives low-battery notifications and who will replace the batteries. A landlord, resident and installer may each assume someone else owns that task. The replacement record should identify the device, date and any unusual behaviour afterwards.
For locks, keep the documented emergency power or mechanical fallback procedure separate from normal battery maintenance. Offering replacement supplies can be useful, but it should not imply that every loss of access is solved by a routine battery visit.
Before you order
- Verify battery guidance for each model.
- Name the person responsible for replacement.
- Record replacement and check normal operation.
