Make the system compatibility check the first step in the thermostat sales process.
Ask what the customer wants to improve: scheduling, an uncomfortable occupied room or remote adjustment. Then collect the existing thermostat and HVAC information through a safe intake process. Do not recommend a product solely because the old wall plate looks similar.
The ecobee models in this shortlist are not universal replacements for every heating control. Check the manufacturer’s compatibility tool and appropriate power arrangement. Room sensors can inform temperature control, but they do not automatically create independently controlled heating or cooling zones.
Compare Premium and Enhanced only after that groundwork. Discuss the exact package contents and features the customer would use, rather than assuming the more expensive model is always the right upsell. Keep any installation assessment and optional services visible in the proposal.
Before you order
- Record the HVAC type and existing control.
- Complete the manufacturer compatibility check.
- Separate room sensing from true zoning work.
