Choose the complete route that can reliably reach the actual under-sink or appliance location.
A sensor may sit below a metal sink, behind an appliance or at the edge of the building. That is where its connection should be evaluated. A strong signal beside the router does not settle the purchase.
The listed SwitchBot leak detector uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, while the Aqara sensor uses a compatible hub. A hub can be worthwhile if other supported devices are planned; a Wi-Fi route may be simpler for an isolated point with suitable coverage.
In either case, test the alert and the person receiving it. Remote monitoring is only useful when the site has the required working infrastructure and someone has an agreed response.
Before you order
- Test at the final low-level position.
- Include hub or Wi-Fi infrastructure in the cost.
- Confirm alert delivery and response.
A useful next step
Choose the connection route using the actual risk-point location.
