Treat the change of use as a handover review rather than simply a new product sale.
Identify which devices belong to the owner and which were installed by someone else. Record the account owner and the available transfer or reset route for each. Do not enter another person’s account or assume permission to keep using their setup.
Review door credentials, app sharing and automation schedules with the authorised owner. The product may remain physically suitable while the operating arrangement needs to change completely. Test the manual fallback and the owner’s ability to control the agreed functions.
Only then consider useful additions such as another sensor or hub. An accurate device register and a clean ownership plan may be more valuable than more hardware at this stage. A retailer or installer can make that transition a clearly scoped service instead of selling around unresolved access.
Before you order
- Identify ownership of existing equipment.
- Review all authorised sharing and credentials.
- Test owner control before proposing additions.
